Bio & Links

If you haven’t guessed, my name is Julia. As of this current moment, I’m a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed graduate with an honours Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian studies at the University of Toronto. When asked the dreaded question, “what are you going to do after you graduate?”, my answer is usually something along the lines of a mumbled “idon’tknow” and a shrug. Sometimes, however, the truth surfaces … as it will here.

I really, really enjoy writing. While most of my experience outside of banal schoolwork has been in creative writing, I like to think that I do a fair bit of writing aside from that. Even if most of it is nonsense. Tucked away in the part of my mind dedicated to daydreaming and other pleasant things is the hope that one day I’ll have a book published–maybe even gain some readers outside of my family and friends. Preferably a novel, but that’s the full version of that hope (Please pay $0.99 in the Wishful Thinking store to continue).

Outside of plotting down half-baked stories and novels I might revisit one day, there is something therapeutic about writing. When I’m upset, I write in a journal. If I’m excited about something, I’ll usually convey it in writing to someone. My education over the past seven years has helped me find confidence when doing other kinds of writing that are far more analytical than anything I write on a daily (sometimes more like weekly) basis. So, when I say that I’d like to be “a writer”, I don’t have a clear idea of what exactly that means, but I know I’d love to be able to make a living off of something I enjoy doing. I think that’s pretty fair.

Here is a brief run-down of everything you need to know as well as a handy-dandy list of links to various pages and websites I am affiliated with!

  • On the Other Hand (editor and co-host)
    • Most of my spare time is dedicated to editing this podcast, which is a bit different from what I would blog about on here, but is still something I am proud to be affiliated with. It’s more of a spiritual podcast, but there is something to be gained from it, even if you are only listening to hear the smooth voice of our main host, Christopher Levan.
  • Her City Lifestyle (past contributor)
  • The Bird’s The Word (former editor and writer)
  • Like my page on Facebook!
    • I post links to all of the work I do on this blog as well as other places around the web, so be sure to follow the page to keep up with my activity. I consider my Facebook page to be my main “hub” of social media activity after my blog, so I strongly recommend giving it a “Like”!
  • Follow me on Twitter!
    • My tweets aren’t 100% blogging-related all the time, so following is a great way to see into a bit of the non-blogging side of my life (though not everything is revealed, naturally).
