Impasse is a puzzle game from Wanderlands and I’ve gotta say, it’s a neat little game. Minimalist and rule-less, aside from the opening prompt of “arrow keys”, you guide your circle through various obstacles where the rules of each level are only given to you by way of experimentation. These are the kinds of levels where multiple approaches and several tries are needed in order to solve them.

I’m a big fan of games where you have to try different approaches to solving the problems (like the ones in this post). For someone like me, where critical thinking and puzzle-solving is a very … involved process, being given room to try again and again and “brainstorm” by doing is great. I love having infinite tries (though my schedule and productivity doesn’t).

There are a total of 24 levels ranging in difficulty. Of course, like most puzzle games, the skills you need to solve each level comes from accumulated knowledge and experience. Dropping someone into a puzzle from the middle of the game’s puzzle set would not necessarily mean they wouldn’t be able to solve it, but it is certainly easier once you have a clear objective and have been exposed to elements added gradually throughout the puzzles.

If you’re looking for a nice puzzle game to occupy your mind for a decent amount of time, I recommend that you check out Impasse here. I also decided to play their other browser game, Midas, which was very cute and something I also recommend (link provided below)

I noticed the links for Wanderlands’ other games on their site weren’t working, so if you want to check out Midas, you can do so here. Their other game, Stickets, is available for iPhone (link to game website).
